“PLACES OF POWER / LOCAL LANDMARKS”

Places of Power / Local Landmarks” is a traditional black and white, sepia toned, photographic vision of natural landmarks found in the Yampa and Elk River drainages of Routt County, Colorado.  This year-long study, completed in 1999, depicts a different season of the year at each of the four locations: Hahns Peak, Flat Tops Wilderness, Fish Creek Falls, and Rabbit Ears.  The concept behind this piece is that these local landmarks have essentially remained unchanged for hundreds, maybe thousands, of years and these photographs might have just as easily been made by the first photographer traveling through the region over one hundred years ago.
